Hummock Pond Road

Cape and Islands

We set an oversized spa (6’x12’) a few steps into the ground at Hummock Pond Road. Like any self-respecting watering hole, it gives bathers and their company room to lounge in or out of the water. It sits in a niche of planted native pines, shrubs, and grasses with custom cedar fences. The residents can feel free to be themselves without concerns for privacy. The space is well defined with a narrow path winding through a field of flowers to the open yard and patio. We custom designed the built-in cedar cabinetry of the outdoor kitchen. A wine cooler and fridge, infra-red BBQ, granite farmers sink, and post lamps welcome family and friends every evening of the season.

Collaboration

Ferrantella Landscaping, Tom Gilroy Electric, Nantucket Housefitters (outdoor kitchen), Custom Gunite Pools, and Neil Paterson Stone Fabrication.

Total Project Cost: $215k

A Hidden Gem

Steps for folks to hang and chat give the spa a naturalized placement below other landscape features, where one would expect to find a body of water.

Layered Screen

Where nothing but scrub brush existed before, the various heights and massing of new plantings effectively hides a neighbor.

Easy Entertaining

In context with the locale, the cedar-clad outdoor kitchen with tiled counters serves well both for the cocktail party and the family reunion.

Excellent and timely. Works to save the client’s money, and balanced the design with realistic costs. Followed up after the job was completed.
